loving Work

For most of our time in quarantine, I’ve been talking to the stars and writing this book. Research sylvia’s life story and work have reaffirmed my love for girls like us. I’m excited to share this learning tool with readers and learners of all ages and genders.

2019 | To the tired women of cal

During my undergrad at Berkeley, connected to my thesis on imposter syndrome, I created this photo collection and writing, dedicated to the tired women of Cal as the title implies. This writing was birthed from my desperation to survive and my desire to one day thrive, but my experience of exhaustion. While at Berkeley, I experienced my fair share of obstacles that seemed to be nonexistent to the men around me, even some of the cis women.

To the tired women of cal is a love letter to my friends who deserve so much better.

2016 | Motel9

My family lived in SoCal motels for most of my middle school, high school, and community college years. School has always been my most rooted place, which is complicated, and real. I had just graduated from Citrus College in this mini-shoot I’m calling “Motel9.”

2016 | Silver line to la

When I wasn’t at school, I was in LA. The Silver Line from the El Monte Metro Station to Union Station in Los Angeles felt like a straight shot away from home and somehow also towards it. I’d walk the 9-10 blocks to the fashion district for fabric, FIDM for over(my)sized heels, and whatever LA could give a young girl.
