NC State Ext: 5 Mold-Breaking LGBTQ+ Youth Activists

Juniperangelica Cordova Juniperangelica, or as many people call her, Gia, is the senior organizer of Our Trans TRUTH. The youth-led program is working towards building public understanding and awareness of trans and gender non-conforming youth. Gia experienced homelessness for about 6 years, which disproportionately impacts LGBTQ+ youth. She is focused on supporting low-no income queer and trans people of color. She believes “When community makes room for us to grow into ourselves and our identities, beautiful things can happen.” On top of all of this, she is one amazing mother!

This was such a cute day; shoutout to @translawcenter @ourtranstruth for being badass and getting the recognition our work deserves. also side note: it’s wild to be here years later being honored at a @sfgiants game. When AB1266 passed before my senior year of high school, it was the first time I was legally allowed to play softball with the girls. The sport is in my blood and even though I’m not legally allowed to play in college because of the regulations that exist for transgender athletes... here I am. #ourtranstruth #StonewallIsNow ⚾️
